Mario has only 3 lives doesn't really have much to work with since all he has is jumping abilities.
Master Chief would probably win. He has wide variety of ammunition and artillery.

Mario doesn't only have 3 lives... And even if he did, he could always get more. Plus he has super strength (how else could he pick up Bowser by the tail) and he can... punch things too. Lol. Not to mention if he gets a starman, he is totally invincible.
EDIT: Robo he can always get more... And where would they hide anyway?
